August 6, 2023The National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine has issued a protocol on administrative offenses against former Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Kirill Timoshenko. As reported by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine press service, the investigation revealed four cases of corrupt practices, including abuse of power and violation of legal restrictions on receiving gifts.
The main episode for which Timoshenko will have to answer in court is related to sending his subordinate abroad under the pretext of an official business trip, but in reality, it was for obtaining visas for him and his son. According to National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine, he used his authority for personal interests, which violates the legal limitations on accepting gifts.
Additionally, the investigation uncovered that Kirill Timoshenko stayed at the Emili Resort hotel in Lviv three times without payment, twice with his family. However, he failed to provide evidence of payment for an amount exceeding 45,000 hryvnias.
In the summer of 2022, the former official also benefited from free services for renting a Porsche Taycan car worth 122,000 hryvnias.
Another episode that may result in administrative responsibility is “actions taken in conditions of a real conflict of interest.”
According to Kirill Timoshenko’s statement, he provided all the information and responded to all National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine inquiries more than six months ago. He claimed to have submitted contracts and receipts for car rental and hotel accommodation and is prepared to defend his innocence in court.
National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine reported that Timoshenko was invited to receive the protocol on the violations, but he did not appear. The protocol will be sent to him by mail.
The incident involving the use of the “Chevrolet Tahoe” car, provided to Ukraine for humanitarian purposes, also drew criticism towards Kirill Timoshenko. He announced that he would no longer use this car and requested it to be transferred to frontline areas.
It is expected that the proceedings on this case will continue in court, where all circumstances and evidence provided by the parties will be considered.
