The US does’t expect results from the Peace Summit devoted to Ukraine in Saudi Arabia – Kirby

The United States does not expect real results from the upcoming negotiations in Saudi Arabia regarding Ukraine.

This statement was made by White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, during a briefing.

He explained that the meetings in Jeddah are not peace negotiations but rather an attempt to seek support for Ukraine’s proposals.

It’s worth mentioning that Saudi Arabia plans to hold talks on Ukraine in August in Jeddah, inviting representatives from up to 30 countries, excluding Russia.

The United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Poland, and the European Union have already confirmed their participation.

On the other hand, the President of Mexico stated that his government will not participate in the negotiations without Russia.

The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, emphasized that the Kremlin will monitor the meeting in Saudi Arabia regarding Ukraine. He mentioned that they need to understand the objectives that are set.

Meanwhile, India has confirmed its participation in the Ukraine summit that will take place in Saudi Arabia.

According to The Wall Street Journal, China may also participate in the summit. It is expected that China’s special envoy for Ukrainian affairs, Li Hui, will attend.
