More than half of Ukrainians oppose the infringement of rights of citizens in occupied territories
August 14, 2024The head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and former head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, has been charged with illegal enrichment amounting to 56.2 million hryvnias (€1.24 million) and the declaration of false information.
This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, although the official’s name was not initially disclosed.
According to the pre-trial investigation, Kyrylenko, while serving as the head of the regional administration from 2020 to 2023, purchased 21 real estate properties and a luxury vehicle, registering them in the names of his wife’s relatives. The assets acquired by the official include:
- 7 apartments in Kyiv and Uzhhorod with a total area of 688.5 square meters;
- A house of over 220 square meters and two plots of land near Kyiv
- 2 garages
- 6 parking spaces
- 3 non-residential premises with a total area of over 190 square meters
- A BMW X3 vehicle.
The total value of these assets is estimated at 61.7 million hryvnias. However, the legal income of the official and his family members was insufficient to justify such purchases. To conceal the illegal enrichment, Kyrylenko failed to report the acquired assets in his official declarations.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of parliament from the “Holos” party, also confirmed that the individual in question is indeed Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and former head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
In July, Ukraine’s National Agency for Corruption Prevention reported finding evidence of unjustified asset acquisition by former Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbitsky amounting to nearly 29 million hryvnias (€641,654).
Additionally, just two days ago, the High Anti-Corruption Court placed former Deputy Minister of Energy Oleksandr Kheilo in custody. The court deemed that bail would be set at 25 million hryvnias (€553,150), after he was caught accepting a bribe.
