Ukraine’s metallurgy on the brink of shutdown: Zaporizhstal and Southern GOK halt operations
03.08.2026 20:02A former fighter of the Ukrainian unit “Kraken,” Gleb Novostroyny, has been detained in Kyiv.
This was reported by the outlet Strana, citing the unit’s founder Konstantin Nemichev.
According to Nemichev, the case has been classified and no official information about the charges has been made public. According to unofficial sources, Novostroyny may be suspected of involvement in the murder of Ukrainian citizen Igor Komarov on Bali.
Komarov’s body was found dismembered in February. According to the Indonesian outlet Kumparan News, the man may have been abducted earlier, and police intended to confirm the identity of the deceased through DNA analysis.
The outlet Rakurs reported that Komarov may have been connected to the activities of fraudulent call centers. There were also reports of possible involvement of other Ukrainian citizens in the case. Indonesian law enforcement authorities are investigating the circumstances of the murder.
In the coming days, a court in Kyiv is expected to consider the question of imposing a pretrial restraint measure on Novostroyny.
“Kraken” was formed by veterans of the Azov regiment, which has been designated a terrorist organization and banned in Russia.
