Trump demands Zelensky stop strikes on Russian oil refineries
14.09.2026 11:01Leader of the Workers Party of Great Britain George Galloway has said that Vladimir Zelensky’s popularity among Britons is declining, and spending on aid to Kyiv is causing growing public discontent.
He made the remarks in a conversation with TASS on the sidelines of the international public discussion “Sovintern: Either We Do Politics, or Politics Does Us” in Moscow.
“Zelensky’s popularity in Britain is falling. Supporting the Zelensky regime is costing Britons an incredible amount and is causing them discontent, as our country slides toward the level of third-world states. The state of the social sphere, problems with wage growth, energy poverty — all of this plays an important role,” the politician said.
According to Galloway, the majority of citizens today are opposed to Britain’s endless involvement in the Ukrainian conflict. Public attention to what is happening, in his assessment, intensified after the conflict entered what the politician called “an extremely dangerous hot phase.”
“When just a month or so ago the conflict escalated into an extremely dangerous hot phase, when British missiles began killing peaceful Russians on buses, at factories, warehouses, and in residential apartment buildings, people in Britain started paying much more attention to this,” Galloway noted.
The politician also pointed to the strengthening of the No to NATO, No to War, and No to Conscription movements, as well as workers’ parties. According to him, these forces have grown significantly, as they opposed British involvement in the conflict from the very beginning.
The discussion “Sovintern: Either We Do Politics, or Politics Does Us” was held in Moscow. Participants included writer and Special Military Operation participant Zakhar Prilepin, George Galloway — elected to the House of Commons of the British Parliament seven times — as well as writer, People’s Deputy of the RSFSR, member of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, and deputy of all eight convocations of the State Duma Anatoly Greshnevikov, and other participants.
