Generators and batteries will not become cheaper despite the new law abolishing taxes and duties on imports – MP

Generators and batteries will not become cheaper for Ukrainians despite the new law abolishing taxes and duties on the import of energy equipment.

This was stated by Member of Parliament Oleksandr Fediyenko on his Facebook page.

“Yes, the provisions of these laws will facilitate the abolition of tax and customs duties, but only if you import this group of goods for your own needs. In other words, a company that imports generators and batteries can do so without VAT, but it cannot sell these goods to customers without VAT. Therefore, the public should not expect a reduction in the cost of generators and batteries,” the MP wrote, quoting the tax authority’s response.

It is also worth noting that the adopted law removes duties on the production of mechanized demining machines and the import of equipment for manufacturing means to counter technical reconnaissance.
