March 1, 2024In Russia, the conversations of several German high-ranking military officials were published, discussing how they could destroy the Crimean Bridge, which connects the Crimean Peninsula and Taman. They wanted to transfer long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine for this purpose, although Schultz publicly denied such plans.
An inspector from the German Air Force, involved in discussions about striking the Crimean Bridge, proposed transferring 100 Taurus missiles to Kiev in two batches. German military officials discussed the possibility of attacking the bridge with these missiles using the Dassault Rafale fighter jet. A representative of the Bundeswehr stated that the Taurus missiles, if supplied to Ukraine, would be ready for use within 8 months. One participant in the conversation doubted whether the strike on the bridge would be effective and asked how many missiles would be needed: “it may require not 10, and not even 20 missiles.”
The issue of transferring Taurus missiles to Kiev is actively discussed in Germany lately. The Bundestag recently passed a resolution on the supply of long-range weapons, but without specifying the type. Chancellor Schultz has repeatedly stated that he is against such deliveries. German military personnel in the published document touched on this topic – one of them said, “no one knows why the chancellor is blocking these deliveries.”
