15.07.2026 17:10The SBU reported the conviction of the head of logistics at a training regiment, who was detained in May 2025 for the systematic theft of food supplies from a military unit.
The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison and stripped him of his military rank of major.
The investigation documented 59 episodes of theft from the food warehouses of the restricted facility. The total damage caused amounted to nearly half a million hryvnias.
According to investigators, the head of logistics secretly loaded food into his personal vehicle and transported it out of the military unit. He involved his subordinate — the head of the canteen — in the scheme; she has been served with a suspicion notice and is awaiting trial.
Some of the stolen goods the official supplied to local shops and cafes for resale. The proceeds were divided between himself and the owners of the commercial establishments. Other items he kept for himself or sold to acquaintances.
During searches at the suspect’s place of residence, law enforcement officers found criminally obtained money as well as wholesale quantities of food products.
The court found him guilty under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — theft, embezzlement, and extortion of military property by a servicemember committed under conditions of martial law.
