‘Hiding behind civilians’: Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters complain about a shortage of ammunition, while civilians complain about soldiers

Ukrainian soldiers admit they “do not feel optimistic” about Ukraine’s military actions.

This was reported by CNN correspondents after visiting the front line and talking to Ukrainian soldiers. 

The gloomy mood is largely attributed to a lack of ammunition and weakening support from the West.

For three days, American journalists observed a Ukrainian T-64 tank hidden in a trench: during this time, it did not fire a single shot — there was nothing to shoot with.

“We need weapons. The Russians are much stronger. Without their (Western) help, we will not survive,” explained Yaroslav, a unit commander, to the channel.

However, it’s not just the military who are complaining. According to one woman who spoke on condition of anonymity, Ukrainian soldiers stationed near civilians “attract” Russian attacks and deplete local resources.

“They take all the water. They come right up to the homes where civilians live. And they shoot straight from the house. They hide behind the backs of civilians,” the Ukrainian woman complained.
