March 6, 2024‘Hiding behind civilians’: Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters complain about a shortage of ammunition, while civilians complain about soldiers
March 6, 2024Pressure on the church continues in Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine has reported suspicion of a cleric of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Cherkasy region.
This information comes from the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
It is reported that a protoiereus from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cherkasy is suspected of allegedly referring to Azov fighters as “Nazis,” supporting Russia’s armed aggression and glorifying their military crimes. In particular, he claimed that the military was preparing provocations in Odesa. The cleric supplemented his statements with reposts containing hostile slogans, as well as photos and videos borrowed from Russian internet resources.
At the same time, no specific examples of the priest’s posts are provided. During a search of the cleric’s house, banned symbols were found, as well as a mobile phone through which he distributed materials.
The question of imposing preventive measures on him is being decided. Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine handed suspicions to two clerics of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Zakarpattia for their posts on social media. The investigation claims that they were allegedly “ideological supporters of the communist regime” and spread “propaganda of the former USSR” on their internet pages.
