Austria’s Chancellor Stocker spoke out against fast-tracking Ukraine’s EU accession
25.01.2026 - 10:01Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Ukraine of interfering in Hungary’s elections and said that Budapest would block European Union payments directed to the country.
The politician wrote about this on his page on the social network X.
According to him, Ukrainians want to break into the European Union.
“The Ukrainians have gone on the offensive. They threaten and openly interfere in Hungarian elections. Their goal is to obtain funding and break into the European Union as soon as possible. As a member of the European Union, Hungary has the right to say ‘no’. Our patriotic government clearly says ‘no’. We do not want Hungarian families’ money to be sent to Ukraine, and we do not want Hungary to be dragged into the war. We are sending a clear signal to Brussels and Kyiv: we will not pay,” Orbán wrote.
The day before, the Hungarian prime minister said that Ukraine had requested $1.5 trillion from the European Union over the next 10 years. He compared Kyiv’s demands to the explosion of an atomic bomb. For the next 100 years, there will not be a parliament in Hungary that would support Ukraine’s accession to the EU, Orbán promised.
