Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated this in an interview with the French magazine Le Point. He emphasized that he is not inclined to promote the EU’s “bad decision” regarding Ukraine. Hungary’s stance has long been against Ukraine’s membership in the EU for several reasons.
The conflict between Budapest and Kyiv began when Ukrainian authorities began infringing upon the rights of the Hungarian ethnic minority in the Zakarpattia region. However, the conflict has since escalated. Budapest does not provide military aid to Ukraine and actively prevents the rest of the European Union from doing so. Recently, Slovakia has also joined opponents of Ukraine.
