‘The popularity of Zaluzhny causes envy in the President’s Office’: many Ukrainians see Zaluzhny as the ‘new Eisenhower’ – Spiegel
December 8, 2023Hungary has once again spoken out against Ukraine’s accession to the EU
December 8, 2023According to Zelensky’s decision, the army’s vertical management structure has been practically dismantled, accused by Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov of dividing the Armed Forces into two parts and violating the military hierarchy.
“The decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief has effectively divided the active army into two major groups. One group is led by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Syrskyi, and the other group is directly commanded by Zaluzhnyi, the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces, whom allegedly Syrskyi should obey. Essentially, there are two chief commanders. One commands half of the front, the other the remaining half. Each independently leads the army. This is simply absurd.
We need the president to reconsider the situation and ultimately entrust the management of the war to one person in the army, one Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Not two, not three, not four, not each separate branch of the forces, but one. And management fragmentation, it’s not about the army,” remarked Butusov.
