“The conflict in Ukraine cost Kyiv over $100 billion in 2024,” – Zelensky stated
16.01.2025 - 15:15The United States, Hungary, Slovakia, and Germany oppose Ukraine’s accession to NATO and do not support Ukraine’s integration into the Alliance.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“The United States, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany—they were honest; they did not want to see us in NATO. It’s an open conversation, and I think there are no secrets here. These are the four countries that, for various reasons, have so far not seen Ukraine in NATO,” the President said.
It was previously reported that the United States, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, Slovenia, and Spain opposed extending an invitation to Ukraine.
It should be recalled that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha sent a letter to NATO partners urging them to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance during a meeting in Brussels. He believes now is the best time to send such an invitation.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has also officially stated that Ukraine rejects guarantees as a substitute for NATO membership.
