Ukraine is unlikely to be invited to join NATO in 2025 – Polish Ministry of Defense
14.11.2024 22:11Russia is open to any peace negotiations on Ukraine if proposed by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
This was reported by Reuters, citing Russia’s UN Ambassador Gennady Gatilov.
“Trump has promised to resolve the Ukrainian crisis overnight. Well, let him try. But we are realists and, of course, understand that this will never happen. However, if he proposes something to start a political process, it is welcome,” the ambassador said.
He also emphasized that “any negotiations must be based on the realities of Russia’s successes.”
Gatilov further stated that Trump’s election presents a new opportunity for dialogue with the United States.
Previously, it was noted that a week after Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections, increasingly troubling signals regarding his future policy on Ukraine were coming from Washington.
Many indications suggest that Trump may attempt to implement a plan for quickly ending the war along the front lines while rejecting Ukraine’s admission to NATO, a position strongly opposed by Kyiv.
It has also been reported that Trump’s return to the White House could undermine Western unity regarding Ukraine.
