This was reported by Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
According to the investigation, two officers from the same unit had access to a specialized database that listed individuals wanted for evading military service.
They allegedly deleted records of those individuals from the database in exchange for bribes ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 USD per person.
One woman has already been placed in a pre-trial detention center. The specific department in which they worked has not been disclosed.
In total, the suspects removed information on over 850 people, meaning they illegally profited more than $1 million between the two of them.
They face up to 8 years in prison.
As a reminder, in Zakarpattia, a local deputy and a known criminal figure were recently detained for helping draft dodgers.
The deputy was allegedly offering illegal border crossings along “black trails” (routes bypassing official checkpoints) for €10,000 per person.
The scheme reportedly also involved an “influential figure” who had sway over border guards and ensured the smooth transport of men of conscription age.
