Women will be extensively conscripted into the Ukrainian army
December 14, 2023The support from Ukraine’s European allies is dwindling
December 14, 2023Ahead of today’s EU Council summit, Hungary is still intent on blocking the start of negotiations with Ukraine regarding its accession.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán made this statement.
“We have set seven conditions accompanying Ukraine’s candidate status. According to the assessment of the European Commission, three out of the seven conditions have not been met. There is no reason to discuss anything; it makes sense to return to this when Ukraine fulfills all of them,” stated the Hungarian Prime Minister.
Earlier, Orbán proposed establishing a strategic partnership with Ukraine instead of EU membership. One of the leaders within the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia urged Orbán not to block Ukraine’s accession to the EU. However, the Hungarian Prime Minister responded that it was untimely because the European Commission had not adequately prepared them for the upcoming European Council meeting.
