Yesterday, media outlets reported that the Hungarian government decided to limit assistance to Ukrainians from the western and central regions of Ukraine that are not front-line areas. State support in the form of housing subsidies and social benefits will now only be available to those coming from regions of Ukraine directly affected by the fighting resulting from Russia’s invasion. These regions include Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Kyiv regions, as well as Kyiv itself and Crimea. This means that residents of Western Ukraine will no longer receive state aid.
Additionally, in July, Ukrainian refugees in Estonia lost their access to discounted train travel on the state railway company Elron.
