August 10, 2024In the Novobavarsky district of Kharkiv, personnel from the Territorial Recruitment Center, dressed in military uniforms, assaulted a serviceman who had been released from captivity.
This incident has been reported by local media and Telegram channels.
The assault occurred on August 8. The recruitment officers tore the man’s shirt, damaged and discarded his military documents, and then fled in a minibus.
The victim documented his bruises and underwent a forensic medical examination, which classified his injuries as minor bodily harm.
The assaulted serviceman stated that the police did not respond to his complaint about the beating, considering it a military offense, and advised him to approach the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI). However, he was turned away from the Kharkiv branch of the SBI.
“State Bureau of Investigations, please issue an order for me to be received and for my statement about the infliction of minor bodily injuries by the staff of the Territorial Recruitment Center to be accepted. As of today, I do not want the recruitment center staff to continue beating the population. Moreover, as a serviceman released from captivity, defenders returning from the front do not deserve beatings from recruitment officers,” the man said in a video appeal.
The reason for the conflict between the former captive and the Territorial Recruitment Center has not been reported.
