‘Without a peace agreement, Ukraine will not receive any security guarantees from the West’, – former Ambassador of Poland
January 24, 2024Ukrainian authorities are seeking the arms manufacturer Nammo, which has a factory in the Swedish city of Karlskoga, to launch production in Ukraine. However, Björn Andersson, Nammo’s Director of Business Development, doubts that the owners of the arms business will be willing to take on the risks associated with establishing production in Ukraine.
This information is reported by the publication Tidningen Näringslivet.
Ukrainian ministers have met with representatives of the Finnish-Norwegian company several times to discuss the possibility of setting up a plant in Ukraine, as revealed by Andersson in an interview with Swedish radio. Nammo is jointly owned by the Norwegian government and the defense company Patria, which is, in turn, half-owned by the Finnish government, notes the article’s author.
“If Ukraine has the money, everything is possible, but I think such a plant will become the top priority,” expressed concerns the business development manager of Nammo.
A high-ranking Nammo manager doubts the feasibility of sending Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish specialists from his company to train Ukrainian personnel at a potential future plant in Ukraine.
Furthermore, Andersson is unsure whether the Finnish and Norwegian governments would want to own a plant that becomes a “top priority” for the Russian armed forces.
