Ukrainian Member of Parliament Nikolay Tyshchenko has stated that the closure of access to declarations by lawmakers was done to prevent them from being seen by Russian intelligence agencies.
“All the fuss surrounding the closure of access to declarations today is simply provocation,” Tyshchenko declared.
It’s worth noting that the Ukrainian Parliament, in order to comply with IMF requirements, reinstated the previously suspended mandatory declaration of assets for deputies, officials, and other government employees during a period of martial law. However, they postponed making the data in the declarations publicly accessible for another year.
According to some Members of Parliament, this delay may lead to the IMF not considering the current version as fulfilling a “structural benchmark” of the lending program.
Media reports, citing sources, suggest that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may veto the bill.
