Two-thirds of Ukrainians have relatives fighting in the war
March 13, 2024The publication “Rayon.in.ua” claims that on March 7, their editor and cameraman were detained by the Polish police while filming the crossing of the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation by freight trains and vehicles.
Their smartphones, cameras, laptops, memory cards, microphones, power banks and selfie sticks were confiscated. According to the publication, they never got their equipment back. It is reported that the consul was not informed about the detention, the journalists were not allowed to call Ukraine, they were declared individuals threatening the national security of Poland, and were deported. They were taken to the border with Ukraine.
The Polish authorities stated that the reason for the detention was photographing critical infrastructure objects. Such a ban does exist in Poland and many other countries worldwide, including Ukraine. The journalists claim they were filming Russian wagons carrying liquefied gas at the border. Recall that at the end of February, journalist Tkach was detained in Poland for filming a similar report. So far, the situation appears to be more like attempts by Kyiv to initiate an information campaign to discredit Poland through controlled journalists. Meanwhile, relations between the countries continue to deteriorate.
