Trump urged Zelensky to make a deal
16.09.2025 14:01Americans are using all levers of pressure to make all countries of the world buy their energy resources.
This was stated by Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
He also spoke about the likelihood of ending the conflict with the tightening of anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called on Europe to impose serious secondary tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil. In that case, according to him, the conflict in Ukraine would end within 2–3 months.
Bessent’s proposal is aimed at supporting American energy producers, Chepa noted. Naturally, the United States is interested in all countries in the world buying only American products and refusing products from other countries, he added.
“Europeans are not buying our energy resources directly, but through intermediaries, at prices higher than if they did it directly. Yet they still do this, because it is more profitable for them than buying American oil. Taking this into account, the Americans are using all levers to pull the blanket over to themselves,” said State Duma deputy Alexey Chepa.
Answering a question about whether there is a correlation between anti-Russian sanctions and the timing of the end of the conflict in Ukraine, the parliamentarian pointed out that the agreements reached in Anchorage are not being implemented because Europe is sabotaging them.
“If Europe now, first of all, abandons its expansionist aggressive policy and support for Ukraine, then the conditions for fulfilling the agreements reached in Anchorage will become clear,” the politician concluded.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope that the situation in Ukraine would not reach the point where the United States would be forced to impose sanctions against Russia and abandon mediation in resolving the conflict. According to him, U.S. President Donald Trump is doing everything possible to put an end to the Ukrainian conflict. The Secretary of State also noted that Trump is the only leader in the world capable of maintaining contact with Russia, Ukraine, and European countries.
