10.04.2024 - 05:03In the European Union, there are plans to tighten the rules for importing food products from Ukraine.
This information was reported by the Telegram channel “Radio Liberty,” citing information from EU officials.
This week, negotiators from the European Parliament and EU member states intend to tighten customs requirements for some food products from Ukraine.
The decision concerns, in particular, poultry meat, eggs, oats, cereals, corn, sugar, and honey.
Goods subject to the restrictions may only be imported into the European Union duty-free in certain quantities. Once this quantity is reached, customs duties will be payable again. The import volumes are set not to exceed the average for the period from mid-2021 to the end of 2023.
This agreement still needs official approval. The rules will come into effect on June 6 and will be valid for one year. The extent to which these conditions will affect the Ukrainian economy depends on whether the country, which is under pressure from Russia, can find new buyers for its products, experts note.
