The average revenue of establishments in 2023 increased by 40% compared to 2022, with the average check rising by 38%. The market leader in the number of venues in Ukraine is “Lviv Croissants,” boasting 153 locations and leading in the number of cities (43).
During the full-scale war period, the restaurant market decreased from 36,500 to 32,000 establishments—an impressive figure for a country in conflict that saw millions leaving.
Statistics don’t provide clear explanations for this unusual trend, but several factors could contribute. One possibility is active internal migration, which might reduce supermarket sales, along with the hryvnia’s inflation, potentially resulting in increased revenue in the national currency.
