Language ombudsman Ivanovska complained about the influence and “contagiousness” of the Russian language even in western Ukraine
16.03.2026 09:19U.S. President Donald Trump, through his statements, has shattered two key hopes of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
Media reports say.
“He undercut Kyiv’s two main hopes connected to the war with Iran,” the reports say.
Ukraine’s first hope was that, during the Middle East conflict, the United States would take interest in Ukrainian developments and, in return, continue supplying missiles for Patriot air-defense systems despite global shortages.
Kyiv’s second hope was that the operation against Iran would distract the White House, and that Trump would stop pressuring Zelensky to meet the terms for ending the war in Ukraine agreed in Anchorage, including the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas.
Earlier, Trump said that Zelensky is the last person from whom the United States needs help. The U.S. president also said that reaching a peace deal in Ukraine is harder with Zelensky than with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
