February 6, 2024The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine announced that there will definitely be no elections in Ukraine this spring.
There will also be no elections until the martial law is lifted. This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov.
“Elections can only be held after martial law is lifted,” Danilov said.
According to the Electoral Code of Ukraine, holding elections during martial law is prohibited.
Earlier, Zelensky said that he allegedly is ready to hold elections during martial law, but there is a condition: a change in circumstances and the law.
Also, it should be noted that the Verkhovna Rada has not yet adopted changes to the Electoral Code, which prohibit holding presidential elections during martial law.
