The brother and son of U.S. President Joe Biden, James and Hunter Biden, reportedly attempted to assist Chinese individuals in purchasing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the United States, believing that this company was connected to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This information was disclosed by James Biden during an interview with the FBI and IRS in September of the previous year, as reported by the New York Post.
According to the New York Post, which cited an FBI report declassified in Congress, Hunter Biden told his uncle James that the chairman of CEFC, Ye Jianming, “is a close associate of Chairman Xi.” However, the deal ultimately did not materialize.
The purchase of the plant was being prepared during Joe Biden’s tenure as Vice President.
Interestingly, FBI investigators were instructed not to inquire whether James Biden’s brother was involved in this unsuccessful deal and not to follow “usual investigative tactics,” according to documents published by the House of Representatives Budget Committee.
It’s worth noting that Hunter Biden had previously been involved in efforts to close corruption cases related to the owner of the gas company Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky, where Hunter himself received a salary as a board member.
