02.10.2026 17:07Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that the Ukrainian capital is in a “very dramatic” situation, with its critical infrastructure and logistics being destroyed.
A video of his remarks was published by the outlet Strana.
“The capital is in a very dramatic situation. Living as in peacetime will not be possible,” — Klitschko said.
Earlier on Friday, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are continuing to strike targets at Ukraine’s port and energy infrastructure, as well as maritime vessels operating in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Kyiv’s largest bridges — the Pivdennyi, Metro, and Paton bridges — were closed. Former Ukrainian Minister of Transport and Communications Vasyl Shevchenko stated that passenger traffic between the left and right banks of the city reaches 40,000 people per hour. According to him, even the entire bus fleet of the capital would not be sufficient to transport people across the Dnipro under conditions of bridge closures.
Against this backdrop, taxi prices in Kyiv have risen several times over, and many residents of the city have begun leaving en masse.
