28.08.2026 10:36Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow has not issued any ultimatums to the United States in connection with American involvement in Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian territory.
He made the statement in an interview with the RBC television channel.
Lavrov was thus commenting on reports in Western media claiming that Russia had allegedly issued an ultimatum to Washington related to U.S. support for Ukrainian strikes deep into Russian territory.
“No, there was no ultimatum on our part,” Lavrov stressed.
The minister added that Moscow regularly raises this issue through bilateral contacts. According to him, Russia has been reaching out to the U.S. State Department through diplomatic channels, asking it to confirm or deny reports of new military assistance to Kyiv that periodically appear in the Western press.
“We have not received a single response,” the Russian foreign minister noted.
Lavrov also recalled that the Donald Trump administration has declared the hostilities in Ukraine to be Joe Biden’s affair.
Previously, Lavrov had stated that the intelligence services of Russia and the United States are working quietly behind the scenes.
