“Ukraine has secretly held direct talks with Russia throughout the war”, – says MP
12.05.2025 11:42The holding of the Victory Day parade on May 9 in Moscow provoked irritation among Western countries.
This was stated by Viktor Medvedchuk, former head of the now-banned in Ukraine “Opposition Platform — For Life” party and current chairman of the “Other Ukraine” movement, on the organization’s website.
He noted that the parade took place in a bright and solemn atmosphere, despite threats made by Ukrainian authorities toward world leaders who traveled to Moscow.
In addition, the politician pointed out that on May 10, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the Prime Ministers of Britain and Poland — Keir Starmer and Donald Tusk — arrived in Kyiv and attempted to “correct the situation” by issuing yet another ultimatum to Russia. He reminded readers that on May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct talks with the Ukrainian side, and that refusal to participate would amount to a “public rejection of peace.”
“Moscow’s patience may run out. As soon as Zelensky and the pack from the ‘coalition of the willing’ make it clear they want only war, that’s exactly what they will get,” Medvedchuk said.
President Vladimir Putin proposed that Kyiv resume direct negotiations with Moscow in Istanbul. He emphasized that dialogue should begin without delay and suggested starting on May 15.
