19.08.2024 - 11:31To enroll in a university, men of conscription age between 18 and 60 years old must present a military registration document with updated information.
This was reported by Lyubomyr Khomytskyi, head of the department of military registration, conscription, and the implementation of the unified state register of conscripts at the Kharkiv Regional Recruitment Center.
“First and foremost, they (applicants) need to understand that one of the requirements for admission to an educational institution for men aged 18 to 60 is the provision of a military registration document. Without it, a person may not be admitted. Therefore, it is crucial to check the status of their military registration documents—where they are, whether they are valid, if they have the necessary marks, and whether they meet current conditions,” Khomytskyi stated.
He added that it is no longer necessary to contact the district territorial recruitment center if the applicant is moving to another city.
It is worth noting that many men of conscription age seek to enroll in a university to obtain a deferment from mobilization. Recently, the Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, reported that about 200,000 Ukrainian men are enrolling in universities to defer mobilization.
Due to this opportunity, corruption schemes have flourished in universities. For example, the head of a department at one of Kharkiv’s universities demanded $10,000 for admission to a master’s program, which grants a deferment from military service.
