This information reported according to Reuters, citing Ukraine’s Justice Minister Denys Maliuska.
The article mentions that thousands of inmates serving sentences are involved.
It was previously reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had begun recruiting new soldiers from among the prisoners.
“We jumped into this process and are addressing the prisoners in the most understandable language. We have been on the other side of the barricades and know all the patterns and algorithms,” said a representative of the “Da Vinci” separate assault battalion.
Earlier, Maliuska reported that Ukraine had released 350 prisoners to participate in the war, with another 4,000 in line for potential release.
