Near Odessa, a man in military uniform detonated the car in which he was hitchhiking

In the Odessa region, a man in military uniform detonated a grenade in a car’s cabin after being picked up by the vehicle on the highway, injuring one person.

According to the press service of the regional police headquarters of the National Police, the incident occurred on November 9.

Preliminary information suggests that the car’s driver picked up a man in military attire on the highway. The hitchhiker asked for a ride and then demanded money from the driver and their passenger during the journey. He also produced a grenade and pulled the pin, resulting in an explosion that wounded the car’s passenger. The perpetrator fled the scene.

Law enforcement authorities initiated a special police operation, known as “Sirena,” to apprehend the suspect. Investigators are currently working on the case to determine all the details of what transpired.

On social media, local residents have reported that the incident occurred in the village of Serhiivka in the Belgorod-Dniester district, allegedly during a dispute in a minibus related to the fare payment.
