Putin-Witkoff talks were held behind closed doors in the Kremlin: what the sides managed to discuss in 3.5 hours
23.01.2026 08:41In Kyiv, 1,940 high-rise apartment buildings are still without heating.
This was stated by the city’s mayor, Vitalii Klitschko.
“Most of these buildings are on the left bank of the city, in the Pechersk District; some are in the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts,” he said.
The mayor noted that these high-rises are being connected for a second time. So far, heating has been restored to about 650 buildings, Klitschko added.
As the mayor of the Ukrainian capital noted, municipal services and the energy system are working around the clock to return heat and electricity to residents.
On January 16, Ukraine introduced an emergency regime in the energy sector; the country has no power plant left undamaged, the Ministry of Energy reported. The most difficult situation was in Kyiv. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that heating problems were observed even in government buildings.
Against this background, the mayor called on Kyiv residents, if possible, to leave the city. Meanwhile, Kyivans began “frying bricks” to warm their homes.
Earlier, it was reported that base stations of Ukraine’s largest mobile operator were de-energized by 40–60% in nine regions.
