The number of asylum applications from Ukrainians in the European Union has dropped sharply
20.04.2026 05:03Ukraine is ready to resume oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline on Monday if Hungary lifts its veto on the European Union’s €90 billion loan.
This was stated by outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on social network X.
However, according to him, Budapest will lift the veto only after Kyiv restarts the pipeline.
“Through Brussels, we received a signal from Ukraine that they are ready to resume oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline as early as Monday, provided that Hungary lifts its block on the EU’s €90 billion loan. Hungary’s position has not changed: no oil, no money. Once oil supplies are resumed, we will no longer obstruct approval of the loan,” Orbán wrote.
He added that the loan for Ukraine “does not place any financial burden or obligation on Hungary.”
As a reminder, Orbán’s Fidesz party lost the election, but he remains prime minister until a new government is formed.
