10.03.2026 08:02Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that Hungary will halt the transit of supplies that are critically important for Ukraine through its territory until Kyiv restarts the Druzhba oil pipeline.
RIA Novosti reported this, citing Kossuth Radio.
“We have stopped supplying gasoline to Ukraine, we will not supply diesel fuel either, but we will continue supplying electricity, and we will also suspend supplies through Hungary that are important for Ukraine until Ukraine agrees to allow oil deliveries,” Orbán said.
Before this, Hungarian Energy Ministry State Secretary Gábor Czepek proposed that Ukraine, within three days, either restore the transit of Russian oil or allow an inspection group to examine the Druzhba pipeline.
At the end of January, Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, linking the move to damage to equipment in the west of the country after strikes. As a result, Slovakia and Hungary were left without supplies. In response, Budapest vetoed the EU’s adoption of a new package of sanctions against Russia and the allocation of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine.
