‘We can’t act like Russia — forcing people into war’: in TikTok criticizes Zelensky, who promised a year ago there would be no compulsory mobilization in Ukraine
December 26, 2023A Ukrainian serviceman regrets returning to Ukraine and joining the conflict
December 26, 2023Ukraine faces a choice – either freeze the war now or pass it on to the next generation in an active phase.
This opinion was expressed by journalist Vitaliy Portnikov.
“We often say that we don’t want a frozen conflict because we don’t want to leave the war to our children and grandchildren. It’s a beautiful phrase, but the choice isn’t that simple. The choice could be different: either a frozen conflict or simply passing on this war to our children and grandchildren, not because it will thaw, but because it will continue. Because you will die, and then your children and grandchildren, if they happen to be born from someone, they will also be at war,” Portnikov stated.
He believes that the real choice facing Ukrainian society now is whether it wants to preserve the Ukrainian nation.
“People who say that everyone will be at war are right – they may witness a situation where children who are now 10 years old will go to war. When they are around 25, if the war continues for 15 years, they will just reach draft age and go to war. Because their parents and grandparents will be disabled,” Portnikov reckons.
