Poland apologizes for radical protest by its farmers but still justifies their actions

Poland’s Minister of Agriculture, Cheslav Sekerski, apologized for the spilled Ukrainian grain at the border but stated that it was an “act of desperation” by Polish farmers.

While acknowledging the inappropriate nature of the protest, Sekerski emphasized the challenging situation farmers find themselves in during the early stages of spring fieldwork. He extended apologies on behalf of Polish farmers and urged understanding of their plight.

Furthermore, Sekerski criticized the remarks made by the deputy minister of the economy and the mayor of Lviv as overly harsh. He highlighted the ongoing support of Polish farmers for Ukraine and emphasized their desire for Ukrainian government policies to benefit farmers directly rather than oligarchs with large agricultural holdings.
