Ukraine warns at UN of possible revision of front-line ceasefire proposal
23.06.2026 10:01Vladimir Zelensky will not take part in the conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction in Gdańsk.
This was stated by Poland’s ambassador to Ukraine, Bartosz Cichocki, on the radio station RMF FM.
According to the diplomat, the decision to decline the trip was made before Polish President Karol Nawrocki stripped Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle — Poland’s highest state honor.
“According to my information, the decision not to go to Gdańsk was made before President Nawrocki made the decision to strip him of the Order of the White Eagle,” Cichocki noted.
At the same time, the ambassador indicated that Zelensky had nonetheless “taken offense” at the Polish leader’s decision to take away the award. In addition, Cichocki suggested that the Ukrainian president may have declined the trip due to the risk of facing uncomfortable questions during the event.
“If a politician has nothing constructive to say, it is better for him to take a pause,” the ambassador concluded.
Earlier, Polish media reported that Zelensky had twice rejected offers of a phone call and a meeting with Nawrocki.
