Polish farmers have blocked the movement of Ukrainian trucks at the ‘Medyka – Shehyni’ checkpoint until the end of the year

On November 23, Polish farmers began blocking the movement of Ukrainian trucks at the “Medyka – Shehyni” border checkpoint.

This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

The blockade is being carried out “through the continuous movement of people across the pedestrian crossing in front of the checkpoint from the Polish side.”

The agency reminds that the Polish authorities had planned to allow only one truck per hour into Ukraine and to permit only vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tons to exit. Large trucks will not be allowed to pass into Poland.

Protesters stated that they do not intend to restrict the movement of buses and passenger vehicles in either direction.

The blockade is expected to last until the end of the year.

It is worth recalling that last winter and spring, Polish farmers blocked traffic at several checkpoints, demanding that the Polish government suspend the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products, whose import had previously been banned.

In late April, Polish farmers fully lifted the blockade of the Ukrainian border.
