December 19, 2024Over the past year in Ukraine, the prices of electricity and vegetables have risen the most. Compared to November 2023, electricity in November 2024 became 63.6% more expensive, and vegetables increased by 62.9%.
This was reported by State Statistics Service.
Other major price increases include oil, which rose by 30.7%, and fruits, which increased by 24.7%. Other categories of goods and services, according to Gosstat, rose by less than 20%.
Among goods, fuel prices saw a significant increase of 10.3%, while among services, medical (outpatient) services rose by 14.9%, and education costs increased by 11.9%. The lowest growth rate was observed in telecommunications services, which increased by just 4.7%.
It is worth noting that in 2025, electricity prices are expected to rise by 1.5 times, and gas tariffs will also begin to increase. The electricity tariff is projected to rise by 1.5 times—to approximately 7 UAH per kilowatt (currently 4.32 UAH per kilowatt), according to Oleh Popenko, chairman of the Union of Utility Consumers.
The expert also stated that gas prices will gradually increase each year, eventually reaching 18,000–20,000 UAH (€409–€455) per thousand cubic meters (currently priced at 7,990 UAH or €182).
Additionally, next year, the price of cigarettes is expected to increase by at least 40 UAH (€0.91).
