Putin stated that Russia “will not need” to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and called reconciliation “a matter of time”

Vladimir Putin stated that reconciliation with Ukraine is “a matter of time.”

He made this statement during an interview.

“I believe it is inevitable, despite all the tragedy we are currently experiencing… It’s a matter of time,” he said.

Putin also noted that Russia “will not need” to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

He was asked to comment on the occasional calls within Russia to use nuclear weapons.

“They wanted to provoke us, to get us to make mistakes. Well, there was no need to use the kind of weapon you’re referring to, and I hope there won’t be. We have enough strength and resources to bring what was started in 2022 to a logical conclusion with a result favorable to Russia,” Putin said.

Earlier, the U.S. State Department had stated that the United States no longer intends to act as a mediator in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, and that it is now time for direct dialogue between the parties.
