“Routine diplomatic rotation”: Russia explained the flight of a Russian special aircraft to the US

The flight of a special aircraft from the Russian Federation to the United States is part of a routine rotation of Russian diplomats.

This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to media reports about the flight.

“It’s a regular rotation of diplomats,” she clarified.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti that “there are currently no prerequisites for ending the Ukrainian conflict or any of its phases.”

He also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no significant international meetings planned for today.

It is worth noting that on December 26, media outlets reported that an Il-96-300 aircraft with the tail number RA-96023, belonging to the special flight detachment “Russia,” flew to New York and then to Washington. According to Flightradar, the plane returned to Russia on December 28. This aircraft is used by members of Putin’s administration.

The flight was linked to a statement by Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Gordon, who claimed that the hot phase of the war would end on December 30 following an “historic meeting.”
