The Kremlin has indicated that negotiations between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin could take place even before the inauguration of the new U.S. president.
Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, noted that Trump himself has mentioned plans to call Putin immediately after his victory. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also did not rule out this possibility, stating:
“Russia has never refused contacts—talking is better than isolating ourselves from each other.”
It is worth recalling that Donald Trump has stated that his primary mission is to end all wars.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that advisers are proposing that Donald Trump consider freezing the conflict along the current front lines, formalizing Russian control over occupied territories, establishing a demilitarized zone, and halting Ukraine’s integration into NATO for 20 years.
