Russia gains advantage in Ukraine conflict, American intelligence reports

Russia has gained the upper hand in the conflict in Ukraine and steadily achieves successes on the battlefield. If the situation is not rectified, Ukraine will lose significant territories as early as this year. Bloomberg reports this, citing a report from American intelligence.

Since late 2023, Moscow has steadily achieved successes on the battlefield, taking advantage of uncertainties regarding further military assistance from the United States and its allies, senior intelligence officials told members of the Senate committee in their annual report on the greatest global threats to America.

“The current stalemate plays to Russia’s strategic military advantages and increasingly shifts the balance of power in Moscow’s favor,” the report says. CIA Director William Burns stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are running out of ammunition and the United States does not have the time to help them. He warned that without additional military assistance this year, Kyiv “will lose positions – and likely significant ones.”
