Ukraine has begun mass account blockages for violating mobilization rules
12.05.2025 17:27Possible anti-Russian sanctions from the United States appear strange, and Ukrainian statements about them may be part of an information war, according to Svetlana Zhurova, First Deputy Chair of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
She shared this view with Lenta.ru.
“It looks strange. Either Ukraine is deliberately making these statements to disrupt U.S.-Russia negotiations, to make sure they don’t proceed as planned — things like this are being voiced. At this moment, apparently to dampen the mood, this could also be part of an information war,” said Zhurova.
She suggested that within U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, there may be differing opinions: some officials favor imposing sanctions, while others do not.
“They are probably preparing different scenarios, including sanctions, but the final decision will rest with President Trump,” the deputy clarified.
Earlier, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, stated that he is aware of details concerning a new U.S. sanctions package against Russia. According to him, it may be coordinated with similar packages from Europe, the UK, and Canada.
