17.03.2026 - 15:03Russian authorities said that over the weekend Ukraine carried out one of the largest drone attacks on Moscow since the start of the full-scale war.
According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, air defense forces destroyed about 250 drones over two days on approaches to the capital and on distant lines.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, in the night from Sunday to Monday alone, 145 drones were intercepted, 53 of them over the Moscow region. Explosions were heard in Moscow and the surrounding region over the weekend, and new waves of attacks continued to be recorded on Monday.
Because of the strikes, the operation of several Moscow airports was temporarily restricted, including Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky. In some areas, disruptions to mobile internet and problems accessing Telegram were also reported. According to official information, there were no casualties as a result of the attacks.
This operation became one of the largest aerial attacks on the Russian capital in recent times. It took place against the backdrop of prolonged peace talks and a general intensification of strikes on Russian regions.
