The Ukrainian Armed Forces stationed near Avdiivka are facing a critical shortage of ammunition
January 4, 2024It’s stated by Ilya Vityuk, the head of the SBU’s cybersecurity division. The SBU believes these hackers may have been able to ascertain phone locations, intercept SMS messages, and potentially steal Telegram accounts of approximately 24 million Kyivstar users, according to Reuters.
Despite Kyivstar’s continued insistence that there’s been “no evidence of any personal or subscriber data leakage,” it’s been revealed that hackers had infiltrated the operator’s system since at least May of the previous year and secured complete access by November. Vityuk described the breach as causing “catastrophic” destruction and having to wiping “virtually everything,” including thousands of virtual servers and PCs, effectively annihilating the core of the telecom operator.
Subsequent to this breach, there were further attempted cyberattacks on Kyivstar, all of which were successfully thwarted by both the operator and the SBU. Vityuk also offered reassurance, stating, “If we discuss the detection of drones, the detection of missiles, this situation didn’t significantly impact us.”
