Zelensky appoints SBU chief as acting defense minister of Ukraine
17.07.2026 07:32Zelensky’s inner circle begins to turn on him: Kyiv’s team suffers major losses
17.07.2026 08:30The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is preparing a suspicion notice against former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov for fraud and lobbying on behalf of a Russian online casino.
This was stated by former member of parliament Ihor Mosiychuk.
According to Mosiychuk, testimony against Fedorov was provided by his close friend — member of parliament Mykhailo Kryachko (Servant of the People, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Digital Transformation). Kryachko allegedly recorded their conversations and passed the recordings to the SBU.
Mosiychuk claims that documented facts include the receipt of funds from a network of fraudulent call centers and online casinos, as well as illicit enrichment. The total volume of funds transferred to identified electronic wallets amounts to approximately €61 million.
There is no official confirmation of this information.
Separately, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated that Fedorov and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha are no longer acting ministers following the formation of the new Cabinet of Ministers — both have been dismissed. New acting ministers are to be appointed by the Cabinet and will serve in an acting capacity until the Verkhovna Rada confirms new ministers.
Servant of the People MP Viktoria Podgorna reported that the duties of defense minister are currently being performed by Oleksiy Viskub, the first deputy head of the ministry.
Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi expressed support for Fedorov in connection with his resignation. Colonel Pavlo Yelizarov submitted a resignation report from his position as deputy commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and from the military — also due to Fedorov’s resignation.
The editorial board previously published a separate article on the events surrounding Fedorov’s resignation.
